E-bike Locks, Timed to Failure
Timed angle-grinder destruction tests on camera, judged e-bike-first: fat-tube fit, battery and display theft, carry weight versus claimed, and what your insurer actually requires.
Capacity vs. the Label
Logged discharge tests of replacement packs and chargers, with safety certification (UL 2271/2849) verified before anything gets a link. Only certified gear is ever recommended.
Advertised vs. Tested Range
A running index of manufacturer range claims against independently published test results, one chart per bike. Range claims are marketing. We ride to empty.
Will This Brand Survive?
A scorecard for the question no brand-funded site can ask: will this company still exist to honor your warranty? Plus the Died Early failure database and a standing recall watch.
Electric bikes are sold on spec sheets and bought on faith.
A bike claims 60 miles of range, a battery claims 20 amp-hours, a lock claims to shrug off power tools. Most review sites check those claims against a press release and a manufacturer-supplied unit. Then the category's former number one brand went bankrupt on top of its customers in 2025, and almost nobody had warned them.
EbikeTested is being built the other way around: gear bought at retail with our own money, tested on a bench with instruments, scored on a disclosed rubric, and tracked long after the review embargo window where other coverage stops. The failures get published next to the winners, and brand stability is part of the score.

EbikeTested launched in July 2026 and the test lab is spinning up: instruments first, then locks, then batteries and chargers, then retail-bought bikes. No product on this site carries a score until it has actually been through the protocol, and we will say plainly what has and hasn't been tested.
