Affiliate Disclosure

The short version

EbikeTested plans to earn money from affiliate links: when you buy through certain links on this site, the retailer or brand pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the business model, stated up front. Commissions never influence what we test, how we score it, or whether a failure gets published.

Current status: no affiliate relationships yet

As of the last-updated date above, EbikeTested has no active affiliate programs. We have not joined Amazon Associates or any brand or network program, and no link on this site currently pays us anything. When programs are approved, this page will list them, and articles containing paying links will carry a per-article disclosure stating exactly which links pay us and which don't.

The rules that don't change

  • Scores are never for sale. We accept no payment, free product, or review fee from brands for scored coverage. Anything scored is bought at retail with our own money.
  • Per-article earnings disclosure. Every article with affiliate links will say which links pay us, above the fold, not buried in a footer.
  • Failures get published anyway. If a product with an affiliate program fails our testing, the failure publishes with the same prominence as a recommendation would have.
  • Safety outranks commission. Battery packs and chargers are only ever linked if their safety certification (UL 2271, UL 2849, or EN 15194) has been verified, regardless of what a link would pay.
  • No pending-commission conflicts. We track brand stability as a scored criterion, and we will not soften coverage of a struggling brand to protect unpaid commissions.

How affiliate links will look

Outbound affiliate links carry rel="sponsored" markup, and articles that contain them are flagged in our content system so the disclosure renders automatically. If you ever find a paying link without a disclosure, that is a bug: please tell us and we will fix it and say so in the article changelog.

FTC compliance

This disclosure exists to comply with the FTC's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) and the Consumer Review Fairness/Consumer Review rules. The site's name is a factual claim: if something is labeled tested, it was actually tested, and our methodology page states plainly what has and hasn't been through the lab yet.
